I couldn't figure out why the adult bird (gosh, I wish I knew the name of this one!) was chirping so much until...I finally spotted the baby off to the side. Baby kept skirting the outside just out of reach of mom (or dad) until finally it had achieved full independence and swam away on it's own.
This sweet bird visited the tree hanging over my back fence everyday for a couple of weeks. She spent her time chirping good-naturedly and taunting my two cats. Then she started gathering twigs and flying off, I assume to build a nest. I haven't seen her again.
This little guy has been visiting my cats lately...and taunting them. He knows that they can't get to him and he hops along the fence, chirpping and looking down at them. It drives them crazy and you can tell that this little bird gets some joy out of taunting them.
